Vortex history

Vortex binoculars are manufactured in USA but some models are produced in China.

But this doesn’t mean Vortex binoculars produced in China don’t meet quality requirements. All Vortex products meet Vortex quality standards.

Vortex was established in 2000. So, it’s a relatively new company but still they produce high-end binoculars and can compete with other old manufactures of optical devices such as Canon, Nikon and the like.

Vortex binoculars (user experience)

Like most of the binoculars available today on the market Vortex has a central wheel between two barrels and a diopter on the right barrel.

Central wheel is for adjusting focus for the left eye and diopter is for the right eye. You use them both to get a clear image for comfortable viewing.

The central focus wheel is turning very smooth with a single finger which makes your experience much better as a user of Vortex optics.

The diopter does have a locking feature which allows you to fix a diopter position after choosing your desired setting.

Compared to many other high power binoculars Vortex Kaibab HD is lightweight and very easy to use. Before Vortex had two models, 15×56 and 20×56.

It looks like now they offer only one model 18×56. In this model also used extra low-dispersion glass, phase corrected fully multi-coated lenses.

These binoculars have a wide field of view 6.5 degrees which is a little wider than in many other binoculars that normally have 6 degrees field of view.

For example, my Levenhuk Karma PRO 12×50 has 4.7 degrees field of view while Vortex Viper HD 12×50 has 5.5 degrees field of view.
